Notes
Enock went to this village to meet with all the local leaders, check on the progress of latrine construction, dish racks, rubbish pits, shower areas, use of ash, clean compounds, kitchen areas and encourage the maintenance as well as standardization of all the facilities which improve on the hygiene and sanitation of the whole community. He managed to meet with the local leaders before they walked around in particular homes which for a while didn’t have latrines and also homes in the trading center to continue teaching and encouraging the residents on having all the benefits of all the facilities. The LC1 and VHTs told him that they will take the lead in the community to mobilize, encourage all the residents who are still lagging behind to bring them up to speed before the end of the month, this is because Enock first challenged them and asked what they have done for the community ever since the program came to their village, most of them responded nothing. He told them this is an opportunity as leaders to take the lead in the program to talk with their neighbors, friends, families and the entire village because now they are empowered and know the values of sanitation. There are many new latrines constructed, good dish racks, nice shower areas and during day families can take showers after visiting the gardens to clean them selves not waiting for the darkness or use the bushes around. There is no open defection in this village at the moment, all the residents embraced the program and are working towards the accomplishment of all the facilities.

983 This is a new latrine in one of the homes near the trading center, this home for a longtime they didn’t have latrines. There was a lot of open defection. This home in particular appreciates the great lessons we have been teaching them on the importance of sanitation and hygiene.
