Notes
Together with the village leaders and two sanitation committee members, they first checked on the homes in the lower section of the village to see if they made any improvements. Those specific homes were visited last week and encouraged to work on their Sanitation facilities. This is the section that is so much affected by the rains and faces a biggest challenge of sand soils collapsing whenever it rains. There is however a great improvement in the homes that were visited in the lower section. Ochieng completed roofing his new pit latrine, Omara and Steven completed building pit latrine structures and planning on roofing soon. In the trading center, there were also improvements in this section with two new pit latrines being dug and they visited many of the homes encouraging every one to maintain the standards and use ash in their pit latrines. Also there were more challenges of 3 pit latrines that collapsed in the trading center during this recent heavy rains in the village and those households were encouraged to start digging new ones. The leaders together with the sanitation committee have been encouraged to continue following up on those specific individuals that are still facing challenges to also improve and should move as a group. Our next target is to move in all the remaining sections of Isamba, Kisiro central and Kisiro north as a team with all the village leaders and sanitation committee members before reevaluate the village sanitation status. It has been noticed that there has been great improvements since the leaders together with Kibo decided to move as a team in the village encouraging people to work on their Sanitation facilities.
