- Notes
- Tape and Jeska went to the village to monitor the level of sustainability of the Healthy and Safe kitchens program and to find out if there were any challenges concerning the stove usage and other program activities.
When they reached there, they met some members and their leaders gathered at the meeting place nearby the community hall. The members welcomed them and later the Chairperson made some reports about the progress of the program activities so far, he said that most members were now using the energy saving stoves for cooking although some of them faced a few challenges while using the stoves for cooking such as building the stoves at the wrong direction where the wind couldn’t blow in.
Kibo staff advised the members to build new stoves facing the wind directions which would enable the stove to cook easily and faster as well as repairing their spoilt facilities such as the dish racks, shower areas, pit latrines, kitchens and digging up new rubbish pits.
Kibo staff also requested those whose stoves were not cooking well to borrow some ideas from the ones with good stoves. They thanked all the members for the good work done and encouraged them to always maintain their general hygiene and sanitation around their homes for a healthy living and then left the village.
