Notes
Tape, Suzan and some visitors from the Parker church ministry (Eli,Jamie,Jenifer and Albrey) went to the village to teach the members how to build the fuel efficient stoves. When they got there, they found the members already gathered at the meeting place together with their community leaders. The members happily welcomed them with songs of joy most especially the women who danced all over the place. Kibo staff introduced the visitors to the community and there after requested the members to introduce themselves one by one so as to know each other easily. Later after they went to one of the members home where they found most building materials already assembled, they picked up baskets and hoes and went to a nearby bush and began digging out the dirt from the termite anthill which was carried back at the kitchen compound. Kibo staff began measuring and mixing up the dirt and grass as the members watched carefully. Together they participated in stamping the dirt while singing and dancing until it got soft enough to be used for building. Kibo staff then began building the stove step by step while explaining every single step to the community because they didn’t have any idea how it was built. The members watched every step carefully while asking questions because this enabled them to learn easily. Finally a stove was built that day and Kibo staff thanked all the members for taking their time to gather that day which was so motivating and encouraging. They requested the members to always try and maintain all their facilities such as smearing all their buildings and improving in their general hygiene and sanitation around their homes for a better healthy living with their families. The meeting finally came to an end after agreeing on the next date and time that the next meeting would take place.
