Notes
Enock and Martin made a visit to check on latrine construction, dish racks construction, shower areas, kitchen areas, clean compounds, smeared facilities. There are some new good latrines which are constructed although most of them are not roofed. As we continued walking around we encouraged and guided the residents on the importance of sanitation and hygiene. As we discussed with them, they agreed to construct good structures using bricks and cement on latrine so as they facilities are sustainable. The community members are all busy work on different facilities to improve on their sanitation. Our focus was on local leaders to make sure all the leaders have embraced the program and are being more exemplary. We taught the use of ash in many latrines which had flies. We also taught and guided some of the residents how to construct good standard dish racks. There are many new pit latrine which are still and construction. I was so impressed to check one of the VHTs to have all the facilities, we left a task for him to also encourage all his fellow residents to construct good standard facilities so as they look uniform. During the discussion we had the chairman of the village committed him selves to walk around the community with his committee members once every week to improve on their sanitation.
