Notes
Introduction Manuela went to Bukudomira Primary School to teach the pupils about Women and HIV/ AIDS and also to teach about Human Right and HIV /AIDS , this lesson is aimed at educating the pupils to know that human rights are very important to them and they should not violate them, for example rights to eat, education, medication and shelter etc. Objective - By the end of the lesson pupils will be able to know all their human rights. - By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to understand why women are the most vulnerable to HIV/ AIDS. - By the end of the lesson, pupils will know that even people with HIV positive are also entitled to human rights. Overview When Manuela reached the school, she went directly to Life Skills class, Manuela greeted the pupils and requested them to seat down, she started by asking the pupils about the previous lessons, pupils tried to share their ideas which was good. After that Manuela introduced a new lesson, Human Right and HIV/AIDS, Manuela asked the pupils what are human rights? One pupil by the names faith, tried and said that, they are things that people can not live without , this was good trials. Manuela went on and told the pupils that, Human Right are natural basic needs that people are entitled to use. For example, Right to eat, education, medical, shelter and clothing and among others. Manuela also said that, all people are entitled to theses rights and they are suppose to protect them from being violated by other people, Manuela also asked the pupils that are people with HIV/ AIDS also entitled to theses rights? Some pupils said no that because they are already dead, Manuela said no, not like that, they also deserve to utilize all the rights because they are human being. That if they have all the rights then they will even live longer. After teaching that, Manuela went on and taught the pupils about women and HIV, Manuela asked the pupils that why do they teach women and HIV/ AIDS? Pupils had no ideas, Manuela explained to the pupils that, the reason why this lesson is taught is because women are the most vulnerable to HIV transmission, simply because the way God created women is different from the way He created men , all organs of women are inside and that makes women more risky to the virus compared to the men, their organs are outside but that doesn’t mean that they are not at risk of getting HIV virus, they do. Manuela went on and encouraged the pupils to practice abstinence mostly girls and boys too. Finally, Manuela told the pupils to report to their teachers or local leaders that if some body is trying violent in their rights.
