Notes
Irene went to Nabikenge to continue with the benefits of family planning to the mother, father, children, and the community. Irene started with a review of the previous lesson then asked the members some of the benefits of spacing their children. Nabirye said she has been able to bond with her children, have time for them and the husband and has enough time to recover from the pregnancy stress, Children are always healthy and secure, feel loved and less likely to suffer from lice, and diseases related to poor hygiene since the parents have plenty of time to attend to them. With the benefits to men, this reduces the financial strain and waiswa said healthy and nice looking homes are a man’s pride because once the children are many men tend to spend most of their time away from homes due to fear of responsibilities and feel their home are a shame especially when some one visits. No cutting down trees for making small huts for each child and the children are less likely to become thieves in the community because they will be with parental guidance. The discussion became so interactive as community members began to compare the different village homes and when mukoda said the bigger the family size the better other members said to him that that was long ago when there was still plenty of food in the community and the villages lacked sensitization. The community members asked several questions and after answering Irene requested the members to go get the service and those using some of the family planning methods to keep using.
