- Notes
- Enock traveled to this community to continue teaching, sensitizing, encouraging, guiding, monitoring, assessing, educating the residents about the core importance of sanitation and hygiene. He also focused on the standardization of all the facilities and the importance and benefits of sanitation. During his visit, he met all the local leaders to first meet about there roles and responsibilities and remained to be exemplary to the rest of the community. After the meeting, we walked around the homes of the trading centre to check on latrine construction, dish rack, shower areas, kitchen areas, rubbish pit. As we walked, we saw some newly constructed latrines with bricks, cement and concrete slabs for most of the latrines in the trading centre. The community is embracing the program and working towards improving their sanitation levels. We saw some new pits which are under construction, we continued guiding them to cons with good materials and take all the lessons so responsible.
As we walked around there are so many new improved facilities and Chairman and his committee are grateful for the good work. There are still major challenges of roofing the latrines since there are no grass available for roofing. We are encouraging them to contribute some money so that kibo can be able to add for them to use iron sheets to roof. The other section of the village is also working towards improving their sanitation levels.
