Notes
Tom passed by the sub-county of I go be and picked up the health assistant and together they traveled to chikunu village for a village meeting. The health assistant was very happy to see kibo back in the village of chikunu after a long time. When they reached the village, they held a meeting at the chairman’s home with other village leaders. The health assistant thanked the chairman and his committee for taking care of the borehole that the district gave them. He also gave a report about the neighboring village where the district has been spearheading the sanitation and hygiene improvements. He encouraged he leaders to own the program a d always work tirelessly to improve the sanitation and hygiene of there, village. While in the meeting, Tom also thanked the leaders and also asked about the sanitation and hygiene levels in the village. One vht said the village has maintained even though he pointed to lower standard levels of the facilities. Tom discussed with them about the evaluation that will be taking place and encouraged the leaders to actively participate in the evaluation. After the discussion they moved around in several homes assessing the levels of sanitation and hygiene. In most the homes they visited, there were latrines but dish racks were fewer. Most of the facilities also were of lower standards. Only in two homes of elderly people dis not have latrines. One home though shares with another home. Tom and the health assistant discussed about the dates for the evaluation but they agreed that they will communicate about the day later in the week. The health assistant also encouraged Tom to visit the district headquarters as chikunu is in a new district so that the district officials can know about Kiboand it’s work in the district.
