Notes
Suzan went to the village to monitor the stove usage and the maintenance of the other facilities such as the dish racks, rubbish pits, smearing of the kitchens, main houses, bathrooms and pit latrines. When she arrived there, she got some members already gathered in the church where the meeting was going to take place. They warmly welcomed Suzan to their village and after exchanging greetings and having a few discussions about the program activities, they stood up together and started moving around the village visiting home to home while monitoring different facilities. Some homes had greatly improved in their general sanitation in away that the dish racks were well built and all their buildings smeared, while other members failed to maintain their facilities saying they were too busy attending to their gardens because they didn’t have enough food. Suzan requested the program leaders to always try and follow up on the other members and make sure that they repaired and smeared all their buildings. The committee chairperson also reported that some members from the neighboring villages had requesting them to teach them how to build the fuel efficient stoves which they had already started doing. This was so impressive to hear and Suzan decided to fix a day where by they would sit together and discuss on how to scale out effectively to the neighboring villages and also this would turn out to be one of their income generating activities. Suzan thanked all the members for participating in the healthy and safe kitchen program activities and requested them to continue with the same spirit for an effective development. She then left the village wishing them a happy stay with their families.
