Notes
When Tom reached the village, he found when the chairman and three of the committee members were waiting for him at the chairman’s place. Tom first held a short meeting to follow up on what had been going on in the village. The chairman said some of the residents around the primary school as well as his secretary had finished there latrine but pointed out one resident who lives around the primary school that has not even started on any thing. After a decision was made that that the secretary of the village would visit the resident at his home and talk to him about constructing a latrine for his home. After the meeting they started moving towards buyoboya village. As they moved in residents homes, they saw new latrines, dish racks as well as new rubbish pits. In one home they found a new pit fully finished at a depth of about 25 ft as well as one that had been constructed on. Tom encouraged the resident to mix mud and put on the logs to make a stronger floor. In one home the resident had started on a new pit and the committee members encouraged the resident to dig the pit well as he had started expanding the pit which would make putting on the logs and constructing the floor hard. There were two residents who had constructed dish racks but were below standard and so the committee members encouraged the residents to go to chairman’s home and see the demonstration model dish rack that was constructed there. The two residents said they were going to redo there dish racks to make them better. There were also four new pits still being dug. Tom encouraged residents in every home visited to work hard and improve on there facilities especially latrines because they would collapse if not constructed well.
