Notes
Introduction Kiteigalwa is one of the villages that have realized how important the stoves are as far as saving the fire wood is concerned however, Harriet visited the community members and the purpose was to check each homestead and see if they are putting the stoves and the fire risen stands in good use as they where taught. Harriet together with 3 men and 16 women moved home to home, the purpose was to create relationship and trust among the community and also give members a chance to visit each other’s home. The first home Harriet visited was Mr Isma’s home who had two wives but shared the same kitchen , the wives wanted to use the fire risen stand but did not know how to put and hang it up however Harriet demonstrated and taught both of them how to construct it and they started putting it up immediately. In some other homes, Harriet didn’t find the parents but the children were around and cooking using the stoves, this really was encouraging because it showed that the stoves were working well for the parents to let their children use them. Harriet also didn’t find the fire risen stand but she taught the owner how important the fire risen is, Harriet said the fire risen stand helps to keep fire wood which you can use during the rainy season and indeed the members started preparing the wood to construct the fire risen stand. A reasonable number of homes had built and were using the stoves and also had the fire risen stands unlike a few homes that had not yet constructed the fire risen stands however Harriet encouraged them to build the fire risen stands and start hanging firewood on them for future use. It was encouraging to to see a good number of homes having almost all the stoves and kitchens smeared however Harriet encouraged them to keep on smearing and also teach other members how to smear and construct the fire risen stands.
