Notes
Tape, Suzan and Jessica went to the village to guide the community members on how to build the fuel efficient stoves. When they arrived there, they found the members gathered at the meeting place with their leaders who warmly welcomed them while singing and dancing. Each one was aware of the activity that day and without wasting much time, Kibo staff divided the members into two groups since they were going to build two fuel efficient stoves in two different homes. Dividing of groups was very important because it made each one to participate in the stove building process yet it also enabled everyone to watch critically as the stove was built. This would help them learn easily without squeezing one another in the kitchens. Each group went to their home with their leaders and began preparing the materials for building such as picking the dirt from the anthill, carrying water and grass and cutting the banana stems from the plantations . Both groups worked so hard together by measuring and mixing up the grass and dirt as Kibo staff guided them and then stamped the dirt while singing and dancing until it got ready for building the stoves. Some members also participated in the cutting of the stems especially the men. Thereafter, they entered into the kitchens and began building the stoves step by step until they completed the whole process. Two stoves were successfully built on that day and Suzan thanked all the members for participating in the activities, encouraging them to always maintain the same teamwork spirit for this would enable them develop effectively within their community. Kibo staff encouraged all the members to continue smearing all their buildings and repair their spoilt facilities especially the dish racks and the kitchen roofs. The meeting finally came to an end with the members appreciating the lessons taught by Kibo staff that day.
