Notes
Manuela and Kaice went to bukudomira Primary School to teach the pupils about importance of abstinence and Menstrual hygiene and management. When Manuela reached the school they went to the headmistress office to sign. Manuela introduced the visitor to the headmistress after that they went to Life Skills class, Manuela met with the girls age bracket from 12 years and above, and they discussed about importance of abstinence and how they can manage them selves during their monthly periods. Manuela started by introducing Kaice to the pupils, after that she told the girls that they are going discuss about the importance of abstinence, she asked the girls that what is abstinence since this was not the first time to teach this so the girls where able to answer that Abstinence means staying away from sexual practice till marriage. After that simple review, Manuela asked the girls about the importance of abstinence, most of the girls answered that when one abstain she will finish her studies, she will be free from sexually transmitted diseases, she will be free from early pregnancy and early marriages they went on and said that that girl will not have stress. After that Manuela also explained the girls what menstruation is and the to manage themselves during that time, Manuela told the girls that menstruation is Normal and it’s good for every girl to go through it, Manuela went on and told the girls that it’s not disease, curse but normal changes in all Adolescent girls. She went on and asked them that how many girls go through and how many girls do their parents give them pads. Manuela was chocked after that question, because only few girls said that their parents do but they not consistently because sometimes they give and other month they don’t. Manuela was sad and asked them what do they sue during that time, some told Manuela that they use pieces of clothing , sometimes their mother give them but sometimes they struggle on their own. While teaching the pupils, Manuela advised them that they should keep whatever they are using now clean, she told them to wash it thoroughly with soap and hung under sunshine to dry well, she went on and taught them on how to fold the materials so that it can not get socked easily, she also advised them on how to manage their craps, headache, back pain and fever, she told them to bath worm water, take some pain killers and some simple exercise. Finally, Kaice also advices the girls to concentrate on their studies and not to be scared about Menstrual hygiene and management.
