Notes
Alex was in Igerera B to complete the process of land agreement. The land owner had earlier on given out a 20 by 30ft but this was not done in the presence of all the community members. The land owner willingly and at no cost provided that piece of land to his village and had to publicly announce this in the meeting of the village people that had gathered. Both him and his next of kin called Mugali Robert happily told the meeting as they had agreed as a family and signed in the land agreement but however they requested the village to maintain peace while fetching the water and not to damage the surrounding crops. Alex also encouraged the people to contribute all the money needed to work on the borehole wall fences of both wells in the village. It will need bricks, cement, sand, gravel and labor fees. This is supposed to be met by the village. The village leaders and water committee promised to meet those families that haven’t fulfilled their borehole payments to do so and another general meeting was to be convened on Friday 1/11/2019 and start to purchase the materials needed with the available funds. The borehole installation process is expected sometime soon in this village but the village had been tasked to constructed a permanent borehole wall fence on the existing old well located in the upper part of the village. Alex then promised to go back to follow up on what would be done and continue with the training of the water user committee plus checking on all the families that have lost their sanitation facilities due to the current heavy rains and check if they have been replaced. The village chairman Mr. Charles continues to thank kibo group for the partnership with Igerera B and the neighboring villages have started to copy them.

The most outstanding program that is being taken up very serious in this village is that people have generally changed their behaviors and embrace seriously the sanitation and hygiene.

Program Staff Preparations Next Visit
