This meeting was intended to teach more about hand washing after visiting a pit latrine and give out hand washing Jerrycans that were bought by Kibo group to promote hand washing to those that had already constructed the hand washing stands. Unfortunately the meeting was poorly attended to citing poor mobilization of the village. Some of the people that had attended suggested to reschedule for another day since most people hadn’t turned and yet this meeting was very important to all the people in the village. The village leaders were also reminded to step up in their efforts in help to mobilize the village. The village leaders have been weak of late and they promised to change and help change their village. Alex told the village people that Kibo group had fulfilled all their promises made and put in a lot of time to change their village but the village hasn’t played their part as required. Alex had taken 30 small Jerrycans for hand washing purposes and hold a meeting to remind them the importance of hand washing. A few of the people have already been in position to construct hand washing stands and waiting on receiving these Jerrycans. However the poor turn up of people didn’t allow to that plan to take place. The village people that turned up apologized to Alex for letting Kibo down because of their poor village leadership and mobilization. The current rains also have been the other factor since many people spent long hours in their gardens digging. Another meeting was rescheduled for Monday 11 to conduct hand washing lesson and hand washing Jerrycan usage. Also the village people continue to request kibo group for more support with iron sheets for the many people that never got them and some of the people have lost their pit latrine structures because of the heavy rains.
