- Notes
- Harriet met the Vht at the same time the Chairperson of the Healthy and Safe kitchen program Mrs Dina Byobona and Harriet asked her to lead her as she inspects the homes of the participants.
The reason why Harriet asked Dina to walk with her through the homes of the participants was there are some homes where the group built stoves on their own and Harriet couldn’t identify them.
They walked through around twenty homes and found when most of them had started cooking on their stoves. Some members who had smeared their kitchens the rain washed them a way and the bricks were outside. Also another reason why rain washed them a way because they had very small verandah thus easy to be rained on.
Harriet encouraged them to ask their husbands to increase on the verandah so that their kitchens are not affected by rain. Also some members had leaking kitchens , Harriet talked to their husbands to roof the kitchens to stop their stoves from being rained on.
The chairperson of the group Mrs. Dina told Harriet that now there are thirty stoves so far built in the village. She said that since they have also learnt how to build stoves they were able to build stoves for some members. She added that as a village they were able to build 5 stoves on their own.
Harriet encouraged them to continue working together in order to achieve development . She also encouraged them to start thinking of other development programs that they can do together as a group.
