- Notes
- Tape and Suzan went to Kagulu A to monitor the maintenance of the healthy and safe kitchen facilities, the borehole and the stove usage.
When they arrived there, they met a few committee group members who welcomed them to the village and then together they agreed to walk around the village visiting home to home while monitoring different facilities such as the dish racks, shower areas, latrines kitchens and stoves.
Most of the members had improved in their sanitation and hygiene and had well maintained facilities, while others were busy repairing and smearing their buildings which were destroyed by the storms. Some members were found cooking on their stoves although they faced some challenges due to the wrong wind direction that they were built.
Suzan and Tape kept on explaining to the members the reason as to why some stoves were not cooking well such as not taking out the ashes which blocked the wind from blowing in and encouraged them to build new stoves at the right wind direction.
Kibo staff also encouraged them to keep smearing their stoves at least after every two weeks so as to avoid cracks which would easily destroy their stoves.
Later on they walked towards the borehole and found that it was in a good state and well maintained although the sanitation around it needed to be improved especially the stagnant water. About 28 homes were visited that day and the members thanked Kibo group for the great work and services offered to them.
Suzan and Tape thanked the committee group members and encouraged them to continue supervising their fellow members during the program activities so that they lived a better healthy life with their families. The meeting finally came to an end wishing each other a happy stay.
