- Introduction
Manuela went to Bukudomira village to teach community members about how HIV is prevented from one person to another person. This lesson is aimed at educating community members about the different ways through which an individual can protect him self from catching the virus.
Overview
When Manuela reached the village, she did not find any body at the meeting place, but after sometime they started to come, but majority of the community members had gone to the mosque and Manuela had to wait, after an hour, they came back from the mosque and attended the class but their tun up was so poor because some of the members went home they did not come for the lessons.
Manuela and the community members decided to start, they started by reviewing the previous lesson, the previous lessons was about how HIV is transmitted from one person to another. Manuela asked them to mention the different ways that HIV is transmitted from one person to another, members shared their ideas for example they said that HIV is got through, having unprotected sex with an infected person, sharing sharp instruments and among others.
After that, Manuela started on the new lesson, she started by asking the members that what do they understand by ward prevention? One of the community member said that it means staying away from something or trying to avoid. Manuela went on and asked them that, how do they keep them selves from catching the virus, community members said that through avoiding to share sharp instruments , avoiding to have unprotected sex. But after this, the members around asked Manuela that how are they going to stay away from unprotected sex, because their husbands even don’t want go for an HIV test and also they don’t want to use condoms.
Manuela advised the community members to be very careful about their lives, she told them to try and go for an HIV test with their husbands, she even told them to try and avoid sharing the sharp instruments, avoiding cleaning wounds without any cloves or polytheism she went on and told them that every body is has the potential to catch HIV so she advised them to be very careful.
Finally , Manuela encouraged the community members to continue taking good care of their selves.
