Notes
David and Steven intention of going to this village was to have a community meeting aimed at preparing the residents of the area about the importance of improving on their sanitation standards. They were about 45 members who turned up for the meeting. The majority were men as there were a few women present reason being some of the residents had gone for another wealth creation meeting in the next village. kibos intention was first of all to hear from the community whether there had been some hygiene improvements since the encouragement and sensitisation by the time they were carrying out the household survey. The first member speaking mr wagodo who was using his next bush as his toilet, thanked Kibo for how much far Kibo brought him. He added that presently he is having a latrine about thirty feet well constructed. This was during the CLTS Program. The second member also thanked Kibo for the recently hygiene and sanitation sensitisation and encouragement during the house hold survey process. The third member speaking was one of the youth Yusuf who was from school for his holiday. Yusuf was amazed after he came back home and found his father had constructed a latrine, and a rubbish pit of which they never existed in their home before .Yusuf thanked Kibo staff for the great efforts shared up to their home. The last speaker on the side of the women Mis nabirye gave a testimony about the time she came from her garden and found Kibo staff destroying her latrine which was very risky and also, it didn’t have a wall around it. This caused her to join with her husband to dig a latrine. According to all the people who spoke during the meeting it was an indicator showing that the majority knew the importance of what Kibo staff were telling them in accordance to working and improving on their sanitation standards. On their borehole account they said they dont have any money on it reason being whatever monies they would contribute, would be spent on the different repairs,David encouraged them that they should continue contributing towards the borehole. David also advised them to loan the money to members members as one of the ways towards which, their borehole account would multiply . They were asked by Kibo staff how long it would take them working and improving on their home hygiene facilities as well as having the Two hundred thousand shillings for their borehole account. They all agreed that each member would be paying 5000 shillings and said towards the end of the month of March .David requested them to continue working together and advised them if there would be any weaker members on the borehole committee changing him or her would be inevitable. In general the hygiene and sanitation of the village was fair because Kibo staff were able to see some new facilities in place for example latrines, dish racks, bath rooms and hand washing facilities. These facilities were set up after Kibo staff carrying out the baseline house hold survey. Kibo staff encouraged the residents to keep working on their facilities as it is important for their wellbeing. r
