Notes
While in the village of igerera A, Tom was joined by two of the committee members and together they started moving around checking on facility construction and improvements. They started off from the upper section of the village and moved towards to the lower section. In the first section they visited, they found some new facilities like dish racks and well as a few hand washing stands. Tom,and the committee members encouraged the residents about improving on the standards especially of the dish racks as some of the dish racks had really small poles and they were not secured by nails. For the shower facilities, Tom was encouraging residents to use cement for the last few lines of brick. One resident said he was going to by cement and also give some to his brothers so that they can also have good shower facilities. As they continued to move in other homes, they came across one home were the resident had already finished constructing the slab floor for the latrine. He said he was waiting for it dry before construction of the walls and he said his target was to get it finished before Christmas period. Tom thanked him for the commitment he had put it to get his family a new latrine. Tom advised him on also roofing it as it is one of the ways of keeping it last longer. There was also a home were Tom and the committee members found when the resident had just started digging the new pit after his old Latrine collapsed. Tom also encouraged the resident to make sure that the new Latrice e is roofed with an iron sheet if he is to keep it for a longer time. After the walk with the committee members, Tom visited the vice chairman to discuss about how to get his section to start working ad there many homes in his section that don’t have facilities yet they have not yet started working on them. The vice chairman said he was going to call a meeting for most of the homes in his, section so that they discuss about the matter.
