Healthy and Safe Kitchens
Suzan and Jessica went to the village to guide the members as they remove the stems from the fuel efficient stoves which they built a week ago. On reaching there, it had rained heavily and the whole ground was soaked up. The community members were so happy to see Kibo staff that day, and after exchanging greetings, the members led Jessica and Suzan to the homes where the stoves were built and then divided theirselves into two groups since there were two stoves built. Forming two groups was very important because it quickened the whole process and also encouraged equal participation of both men and women. The members also were able to learn easily instead of squeezing each other in one kitchen. Both groups worked so hard under the guidance of Kibo staff until the banana stems were taken out from the two stoves. After every thing was done, Suzan encouraged the stove owners to always see that they smeared their stoves at least after two weeks so as to avoid cracking. Kibo staff requested the members to improve and maintain all their facilities by smearing them and repairing the spoilt ones. The members were so grateful for the lessons taught that day and the advice given, promising to do so for a better healthy living with their families. They thanked Kibo staff and the meeting came to an end wishing one another a happy Xmas.
