Lesson Taught
Poultry Day 1
Ida went to Budumba to introduce chicken lesson, she first took the community into a short preview about some Bible lessons like Loving others, God’s love, God’s forgiveness and the Tongue. They participated well and others led the group as teachers on some lessons. This gave Ida a way forward with the next lesson. Ida asked the community a simple question that no one answered. The question was “what is a chicken?” No one was able to describe what a chicken was. A chicken is a bird that was officially allowed to kill (prepared or cooked)for the in-laws. After that mr.Batumule narrated how grand parents used to teach children how to rear and save for the future. They used to give to the grand children a chic and blessed it, telling them to multiply it and get goats which will help them pay the dowry. So Ida told the community to get the books and pens to take notes. Ida encouraged the community to change the way they think about chickens and adopt the new style of raising chickens. First, love the chickens that will help you do better. Help them look for laying stations where the water can’t reach. Prepare basic facilities for hatching such as charcoal, a small stove, kuku star vaccine and a basket. We also learned how to mark eggs for easy sorting when time comes.
