Notes
Suzan went to Bupeni village with the intention of monitoring the stove usage and the maintenance of the other facilities. When she got there, she found some of the program leaders and few members sitting at the meeting place near the community church. The members got excited when they saw Suzan and offered her a sit. The chairperson opened the meeting with a prayer and then welcomed everyone to the meeting that day. He made some reviews about the program activities that were carried out previously and how they were progressing so far such as building stoves for other members at their neighboring villages. They also managed to earn some money out of building stoves which they used to buy gifts and other home basics. Some members who didn’t have kitchens by then managed to build new kitchens and got themselves the fuel efficient stoves which was so impressive to hear. Later after the meeting, the members together with Suzan got up and walked around the upper side of the village while monitoring some of the facilities such as the shower areas, latrines, rubbish pits, dish racks and stoves. About 22 homes were monitored on that day and most of them had improved in their general sanitation and hygiene and were cooking on their new stoves. Suzan kept on encouraging the members to repair their spoilt facilities such as the dish racks which were broken and also to see that they smeared all their houses because it would enable them live a better healthy life with their families. The members were so happy for the new year and promised to work harder together so as to develop effectively and the meeting finally came to an end.
