- Notes
- Tape and Jessica went to the village to monitor the progress of the healthy and safe kitchens program such as the stove usage, maintenance of the latrines, bathrooms, rubbish pits, dish racks, and tippy taps plus the smearing of the buildings.
When they arrived there, they met some of the group leaders and a few members at the meeting place who warmly welcomed them to the village. After settling down and exchanging greetings, they all agreed to walk around the village visiting home to home while monitoring the program facilities.
During the process, some members were found cooking on their new stoves and reported that they no longer suffered from smoke inhalation and eye infections, the kitchens looked much more neater and accidents reduced. They also cooked food in time yet they used less firewood.
Some facilities however had been destroyed by the previous heavy storms such as the shower areas, latrines and dish racks.
Tape and Jessica kept on encouraging the members not to lose hope but to continue repairing or rebuilding stronger facilities which would last longer. They also noticed that not everyone smeared all their buildings and even some of them didn’t have the high risen firewood storages in their kitchens.
They also requested them to smear all their buildings and build the firewood storages so that their entire homes looked much more neater and healthy to live in. The women were also requested to come for the women’s conference which would take place on the 24th,of January 2020 in jinja town.
The lessons to be taught in the conference would help them identify their strengths and weaknesses thus improving on their life skills that they would enable them live a better life. They thanked Kibo staff for the advice given and the meeting came to an end.
