Notes
Harriet,Henry and Jeska found the participants already gathered at the meeting place busy pealing cassava and sweet potatoes that they were to cook and eat together on that day. The community chose every member to bring either cassava or sweat potatoes and greens from his or her own garden. They planned to launch their saucepans that kibo had given them as a group and also to update kibo on how far they gone with their Healthy and Safe kitchen program. Kibo staff was warmly welcomed by the community. The community decided to first walk around kibo showing them their development programs that they have so far done. All the members were found cooking on on their stoves on daily basis and this was evidenced by the absence of three stones fire in the kitchens. However only two members were found cooking on on their stoves along side the traditional three stones and kibo staff reminded them about the dangers of cooking on open and immediately they took out the three stones. Every home reached was well smeared with the firewood risen stands for firewood storage well stocked with wood. every member in the group has a vegetable garden where they pick vegetables for food and sell some to get other basic needs. Some members chose to do brick laying during the dry season when they are not very busy with garden work. Also the members plan to do chicken raring as a group as one way to achieve development. After inspecting the homes kibo staff with the community later joined in the meeting and the Chairperson of the group told kibo staff that after getting saucepans from kibo they sat as a group and asked themselves on what else they can add in their group that will lead to further development. They said that they decided to save buy plates on top of saucepans and they plan to form a catering group that will be hired during functions . The money will be brought to the group that will be used to buy more saucepans, plates and other development thins. They target is to promote team work and sustainability of their group. Henry from kibo group encouraged them for all the development programs they are implementing and togetherness they have because United they will achieve many good things. After the meeting the group had a meal together sharing their harvest as a group which was a good sign of unity.
