Program
Healthy and Safe Kitchens
Notes
Suzan, Tape and Chris went to Nawandyo A village to carry out a first evaluation process after every participant got a fuel efficient stove. When they got there, they found some of the group leaders at the meeting place sitting under a tree. Kibo staff was warmly welcomed to the village, and after exchanging greetings, Suzan went ahead and explained to the leaders how the whole evaluation process was going to be carried out that day. This was going to be carried out at the second part of the same village since it had two L.Cs. Without wasting time, the team split into two groups in order to quicken the whole process since it involved asking questions to each member who participated in the healthy and safe kitchens program which really took some time. The two groups went ways and began visiting home to home while asking different questions concerning the program facilities and activities. In general it was observed that each member visited had greatly improved on their sanitation and hygiene and had also managed to maintain most of their facilities. Although some stoves needed to be repaired and smeared, they still cooked on them which was so impressive. A few facilities also needed repair and rebuilding such as the dish racks, shower areas, latrines, kitchen roofs and the chairperson reported saying they recently received heavy storms which destroyed most of the facilities and some members were found busy reconstructing them. At the end of the day, Kibo staff thanked the members for the continuous participation in the program activities and encouraged them to always maintain all their facilities so as to live a better healthy life with their families. The leaders thanked Kibo staff for the visit that day and the meeting came to an end wishing each other a happy stay.
