Tom and the committee members moved around kishaike village To check on some homes that have lagged behind and encourage them on sanitation and hygiene improvements. They moved both on the upper section and the lower section. In the upper section they encouraged residents on the construction of hand washing stands and well as encouraging others on improving on some facilities like showers. In one home, they encouraged a young man who recently got married to start on a new latrine and move or stop sharing with his parents as it’s not acceptable culturally. The young man agreed to start on a new pit soon. He also said he would be starting in the dish rack first then finish with the latrine. In one home of the vht, the committee members decided that his latrine was not to standard and that is was also risky to his family members. So they decided to break the structure of the old latrine. They all decided that because he is the vht of the village, he should be an example to the rest of the village and should lead exemplary. From the upper section they moved to the lower section were they found some improvements in facility construction. The vht from the lower section has also started on the digging of his pit. Even though the pit is not to a good standard, the committee members promised to help him and guide him on the construction phase. Tom was very pleased by the new efforts being put in by the village leadership and committee members to improve on the sanitation and hygiene of the village and encouraged them to continue doing so to help improve their village.
