- Harriet met the local council one committee members at the meeting place who welcomed her to their village.
Harriet introduced her self and the program she works for which is healthy and Safe kitchens program which aims at promoting a healthy kitchen through reducing smoke in the kitchen, quantity of firewood used , smoke,fire accidents among others.
She added that through this program kibo will teach and encourage participants to smear their home facilities, teach them how to build the fuel efficient stoves that use less firewood, vent out smoke, eliminate cases of fire accidents as well as cooks first.
She also told them that the goal for this approach is to ensure sustainability of the program since those who had learnt how to build stoves will be able to build for others and earn a living.
The chairperson LC1 Mr. Kakaire was so thankful to this program and told her that he receives many cases of domestic violence resulting from delayed food ,fire wood thefts among others. He said that if this program is implemented in their village it will help to reduce on such cases.
Harriet asked them to choose a date that will be convenient for them so that they Mobilize the entire community so that she introduces the program to them.
The committee chose 1st April 2020 expecting to have mobilized the entire village to attend the meeting.
