- Notes
- Alex met with sub county leaders at the government offices to discuss the sanitation and hygiene status in Naibowa village looking through the third survey conducted last week by WASH. The pit latrine coverage has gone very high to a required status but however there is still need to encourage the people who haven’t met all requirements to do so. The sub county leaders were very happy for what has been done in Naibowa village creating this big change. Naibowa village was known in the sub county with the worst sanitation status but with Kibo’s initiative, this village has greatly improved for the last 8 months. Alex shared the results from the survey conducted recently and thanked kibo group for the job well done. Together with the parish chief, Mrs. Florence they went to the village and met with the village leaders too to show them how far the village has so far moved. They moved in 14 homes to check on the facilities with the sub county parish chief and she was very amazed with what has been done in a Naibowa so far. The members that haven’t met the required standards need to be encouraged by the sanitation committee and the leaders to make sure all the households are the same with the same requirements in every home. 98% of the homes have got the pit latrines and other facilities have greatly improved as well with hand washing increasing steadily now over 50% of the homes have constructed the hand washing stands. WASH will continue to follow up on the remaining people who still have to work to meet the standards as we start preparing the village for a new well.
