Ws Notes
David and Steven went to Nawampiti village to continue encouraging the community members about improving on their home hygiene facilities and also encouraging each member to pay his or her borehole contribution . They moved together with the chairman of the borehole mr Kagawa Nelson to the homes of the most stubborn members mr mwota and TIbita,s homes as they wanted them to start working and improving on their sanitation facilities like the rest of their neighbours who were working to meet the required hygiene and sanitation standards. In mr mwota,s home they found when he had started constructing a structure for his latrines. Mwotas latrine is 15 feet deep but had no structure and Mwotas family was using it like this. David appreciated him so much for the progress in his home he continued encouraging mr mwota to share the same advise with his other friend who was also a traditional doctor in the same community because he was also not having a shower area and a-drying rack yet he always hosts and admits a lot of sick community members who were have the same traditional briefs like him. He said he would be visiting the friend the next day to share such good advice and encouragement with the friend. Mr TIbitas home however, there was nothing done. David and Steven went ahead and talked to the wife and she said she will be passing the same information to the husband who was away. Mr kagawa Nelson promised the Kibo staff to be back in this home after two days when the wife hopes that he would be back home. They continued moving home to home in about 30 home s still encouraging members to improve on their sanitation facilities in the 30 homes they moved to most of them were having some improvements. for example some other home hygiene facilities were already worked upon or being improved and maintained to the required standards, they kept on encouraging the different homes they moved to, to pay their contributions towards the borehole account because they had little money as their contribution towards the borehole account they had 45000 shillings. In the next visit, David and Steven will be moving towards the boundary of the village to also monitor and encourage the few homes there on their facilities. David and Steven have not been to this section yet as the government had just added and extended the boundaries of Nawampiti village where those other new few homes were.Generally in this village, the majority of the community members have worked so hard to improve on their sanitation facilities and according to the percentage of the latrine and the dish rack coverage they are in the upper 90,s but they were still working and improving on the rest of the other remaining home facilities. Kibo staff will be meeting the water and sanitation committee members to plan for further sanitation improvements and progress in the upper section also other two homes that were added to the village by the government.
