Notes
Irene went to kagulu to discuss the way forward with the chairman and the Kibo group leaders about how they will be carrying out their lessons, the group discussed about how they will be meeting and they reached an agreement of meeting not more than 10 members , in the meeting members will be encouraged to sit a few meters apart, have masks on and hands washed. Then these will be co- taught with the breast feeding mothers because these are in small groups. There after we shall be also meeting with the community members in still small groups. After the meeting the chairman asked Irene to move around talking to the community members about the guidelines . When moving around some homes Irene got to move to Mai’s home one of the mothers whose children were malnourished and Irene was excited to see a grate change in the way the children looked like. Mai the mother to these girls informed Irene that she is working so hard to see that her children don’t get malnourished again. There after Irene and the chairman moved to an area where there were a group of married young girls between the age of 14,15,16 respectively married to young boys also around 18 years of age. The chairman requested Irene to talk to them and counsel them on early marriage and how they can be better mothers. It was so dis appointing because the chairman said they have reported the matter to police but nothing has been done, and during this period of lockdown many have conceived and run out of their homes. It’s so disappointing that the parents to some of the girls just give them away in exchange for money and cows. Irene scheduled to visit and talk to them and their families, also talk to the parents of these children and advise them accordingly.
