Notes
Introduction Lorna went to Bulyowa village to introduce the Life Skills Program . Life Skills Program is active in the School but not yet at the community. Overview Lorna went to this village to introduce the program to the community members . When she arrived , she found the community members waiting at the meeting place with a jerrycan and soap showing that they were listening to what they were being told concerning the measures by the ministry of health to prevent covid 19. The secretary drafted an agenda on how the program was going to run. An opening prayer was said and then the chairman took over. He welcomed the community members present and encouraged everyone to introduce themselves. After everyone had introduced themselves , Mpata the mobilizer also took this opportunity to call out the activities Kibo has done in this village. He on behalf of the community were very thankful for the changes Kibo has brought to the village through the WASH program , Health and Safe kitchens and now Life Skills Program. After this , he welcomed Lorna to tell them more about the program. Lorna started by thanking them for agreeing to meet her on short notice and also for following the ministry of health guidelines concerning Covid19 and told them not to get tired or stop. They mentioned however the lack of masks and sanitizers and that they heard the government was going to provide but don’t know when it will reach them. Lorna asked them to imagine it did not reach them what would they use?. She encouraged them if they could sew the masks or rather use a card or Handkerchief to cover their nose and mouth whenever in crowded places, taxis or even their normal visits to the hospital. She encouraged them that this is a personal fight and whatever one does protects everyone around them including their family. After that Lorna introduced Life a Skills Program to the community where she started by telling them that actually this program is not new in this community because it is being taught at the school. She asked how many of them have children going to that school and some of them put their hands up, she also asked them how many of them ask them what they are being taught at School and barely anyone put up their hand. Lorna encouraged them to always ask their children about what is being taught to them at school so that they can always enforce it. Lorna then introduced to them the 5 major skills that are taught under this program which are; HIV/AIDS Awareness, Communication Skills, Relationship Skills, Decision Making Skills and Puberty and Adolescent stage . She explained to them briefly what each Topic entails and told them that they will be looking at those in detail when they officially start some time in the future. She asked them whether they had any comments and they especially commented on Relationship Skills. They mentioned that their children no longer listen to them, they love their mothers more than them, their families there is no respect between themselves . It almost became a lesson on its own and even some solutions were being given . They also discussed on how they will carry on these meetings where they will be dividing themselves into groups to reach a specific number to follow into the guidelines of the ministry of health. Conclusion Lorna thanked them for their comments and mentioned that when the lessons officially begin, this will be the first topic they will begin with. She thanked them for coming and said they will be in touch.

11749 Lorna also had a chance to talk to this young girl who has just started high school. She asked her if she has been revising her books and she said no . Lorna encouraged her to read her books, keep away from bad company and not to be deceived by boys / men or she can get pregnant and Loena asked her if she wanted that , she said no.
