Notes
Suzan and Jessica went to the village to follow up on the stove maintenance and the smearing of the buildings. When they arrived there, they found some of the program group leaders at the community hall waiting. After exchanging greetings together, they agreed and formed two groups where by each group was led by Kibo staff . They started walking around the upper side of the village while visiting home to home and about 12 homes were visited that day. During the whole process most of the buildings observed needed to be smeared and only few members managed to smear all their houses. Some kitchens didn’t have proper raised firewood storages and also the stoves needed to be smeared because they had big cracks which would destroy them if not taken good care of. Jessica and Suzan kept on advising the members to improve on all their facilities such as smearing all their buildings and stoves, constructing the high risen firewood storages and the dish racks which were found in a poor state. They also encouraged them to form small groups so as to avoid big gatherings or work with family members whereby the elder children would be involved in certain activities like smearing the houses and roofing the kitchens. The members were so grateful for the new ideas given by Kibo staff and promised to do so when they got free time especially over the weekends because they reported to be spending most of their time in their gardens since it was a rainy season. Kibo staff thanked the members for walking them around the village that day and wished them a happy stay with their families.
