Notes
Alex, Chris and the police officer were in Butabira village to follow up on new facilities under construction as well as continue to guide the village on standards. Together with two sanitation committee members and the village chairman, were in the lower part of the village checking on new facilities and to encourage the residents to work on their standards. Four new pits were under construction and they were guided on the standards. Elliot one of the village resident who has been very hard to see and find, was found that day and he had started a new pit latrine in his home. There was an improvement observed in the village with the few homes that were visited. The only village borehole in the village recently broke down and many people are struggling where to get clean water fir drinking. This borehole is the one considered to be repaired by Kibo group but the village has not yet met the required standards. The village has promised to have a meeting and discuss how to have their borehole repaired somehow to have it fixed and get some water for drinking before Kibo can come in for a permanent solution at a later date. The rains that day made our visit short and left quite early. The sanitation committee and the village chairman was encouraged to continue with the weekly visits in all the homes in the village to encourage them on construction of the sanitation facilities and guide on standards.
