Notes
Ida went to Budumba to teach about chicken hatching and also taught about egg marking. Ida taught this lesson sometime back but after doing a pre-view she realized that the community members had forgotten almost everything. So she taught it again and most members had books and pens. Since only few people attend lessons during this Covid time, it has been easier for Ida to teach. Members concentrate and discuss which helps them remember and understand more. Ida told them to mark each egg by the date, month for easy identification. Ida also encouraged the members to love their chickens that’s when they will gain from them. Once we take the lessons taught seriously, everything will be easy. Ida also encouraged the community to help prepare places for laying to reduce the problem of eggs breaking. The community members were asked to have the following items ten days before hatching. 1. Charcoal, a stove, a drinker and a feeder. 2. Vaccine, feeds (chic and duck mash) and glucose. 3 A coop. Next week will learn the importance of the items above.
