Notes
Suzan went to the village to follow up on the construction of the kitchen roofs which were found leaking and the stove usages. When she got there, she met some program leaders sitting under a tree near the community hall. She was warmly welcomed to the village and together they sat down discussing the way forward to the program activities in the village. The chairperson made a few updates on the construction of some facilities such as the dish racks, firewood storages and kitchen roofs. He said some members had not put up new dish racks and firewood stands because they didn’t have enough time to search for stronger logs which were a little bit scarce and also spent much time in their gardens. Together they stood up and began walking around the village while visiting some homes which had very poor facilities. Four out of the ten homes visited that day needed to improve on their sanitation and repair some of their facilities which were found in a poor state. Other members had very good dish racks and were cooking on their fuel efficient stoves without any problem. One of the community members said that he needed enough time to look for the a kind of grass to roof his kitchen which he thought was the best and long lasting. Suzan encouraged the members to work hard and improve on their facilities and also to see that they cook on their improved stoves on a daily basis so as to live a healthy life with their families. She thanked them for the spirit of working together as a team but emphasized on always keeping a social distance amongst themselves while working and washing hands with soap. They appreciated Suzan’s advice that day and promised to do so whenever they came together.
