Healthy and Safe Kitchens
Notes
Harriet reached in the community and found the local leaders and the healthy and Safe kitchen program leaders waiting for her. The meeting begun with an open prayer that was led by Namwase Sarah who thanked the lord for providing kibo protection to come to their village. Harriet said the evaluation results to this village and asked the leaders to discuss some of the possible reasons why some participants did not perform well.for example those ones who had not smeared their facilities ,some participants who lacked pit latrines, firewood risen stands at the time when evaluation was conducted. The chairperson LC1 Mr. Iduma Eremye said some latrines were destroyed by rain by the time kibo carried out evaluation and immediately after evaluation all those participants were able to rebuild them. Also some people who had not smeared their kitchens, stoves and lacked firewood risen stands were able to put them in place after evaluation. They said that as kibo asked them questions during evaluation there were able to evaluate them and put in place that they were found lacking in their homes. He added that for him as the chairperson of the village is very thankful for Kibo’s program that unites communities , through sensitization and help them to understand their weak areas thus able to improve on them. He added that the Healthy and Safe kitchen program united his family ( his wives )who conflicted every day and never thought that at one point they will ever work together. He added that through the healthy and safe kitchen many conflicting women including his wives were united through learning and building stoves. Iduma said that currently one of his wife Ajjiambo mother is sick in Iganga hospital and because of the unity that kibo instilled in them, each wife visits the patient in turns, they cook food take to them and other hospital requirements. Also kamida said that before that Eremya’s family was ever conflicting over minor issues. Harriet asked the leaders to volunteer walking with her as she shares evaluation results as well as look at the Healthy and Safe kitchen program facilities whether they have been maintained as the leaders stated. As soon as they started walking it started raining heavily and Harriet had to leave the village immediately because she feared to get stack due to the poor road.
