Notes

David along with Steven they went to kirwanire village. Their intentions of going there was to have a meeting together with members from the lower section. The meeting was aimed at discussing the ideas of promoting of the hand washing through the construction of the hand washing stations as well as the improvements on the rest of the other sanitation facilities. As David and Steven were in the village they first met with the village general secretary mr mufumbiro who moved throughout the entire lower section while mobilizing the members to came and attend the sanitation meeting. While the general secretary was moving home to home encouraging all the members to go and attend the meeting,the kibo staff were at the same also moving trying to check on the general sanitation of the lower section. David and Steven were also moving because they wanted to asses where the much greater need was. Because David and Steven had noted that in some homes there was still more need for sanitation encouragements and the improvements. Therefore David and Steven headed to where they were supposed to be meeting from . Fortunately at their specific meeting place David and Steven found when all the majority of the members from the lower section they had gathered waiting to hear from the kibo staff. The meeting started with an opening prayer led by mbakuza micheal. Afterwards the kibo staff were given the floor by Mr mufumbiro who was chairing the meeting to take a lead towards the corse of the meeting. On that note David the kibo staff before their remarks they invited the leader of the Vht,s in the village mukasa Hasani to give a few remarks. He first thanked kibo for the greater job towards the sanitation improvements in the village. Later mukasa Hasani the Vht asked the members to think twice if at all the different diseases for example Corona , diarrhea and bilharzia were in their village and they were as dirty as not even having pit latrines in place guess what would have happened. One member reacted on that point by saying that God loves them all through the kibo,s sanitation efforts home to home . Along the same lines the kibo intervened in by giving their remarks saying that before the beginning of the meeting they had moved home to home but what they realized was that there was no presence of any hand washing station. They also noted that there was much more need for sanitation improvements in the many of the homes . Because of that the kibo asked the members when they hope to have completed with the construction of the hand washing stations. They all agreed on the one weeks time period that is when they hope everyone to have finished the construction of his or her hand washing stations . The kibo also asked members to set for them selves the deadline on the rest of the other sanitation facilities. All the members continued and said that one month,s time period will be enough for each one in their section. Because of that the kibo staff requested the members to construct facilities which are standardized for example the dish racks should be movable to protect them from termites and made big poles which are sustainable . On addition to the above another member by the names of mbale micheal raised a complain about the chairman mr Hasani Bogere of not equally balancing the pick axes usage which were given to them from the kibo. Therefore David requested the general secretary Gerald mufumbiro along with the Vht t to Meet with Mukasa Hasani to follow up on that weakness of not sharing the pick axes in both the two sections which makes up the entire village equivalently . Also the kibo staff promised the village members that they will be discussing into that with mr Bogere Hasani so that it will be solved. Fortunately towards the end of the meeting the general secretary Gerald mufumbiro volunteered by saying that in the set deadline of the one week he will be volunteering by constructing for everyone in his section the hand washing station who will be having the bricks in place . All the members were so impressed by clapping because of Gerald,s help. At the end of the meeting David requested all the members always to be in their respective homes . Reason being for more sanitation encouragements , saving time during home to home and also to able to meet their set deadline dates. According to David and Steven,s overview,they saw that the lower section of the village also will be able to change by improving on their sanitation standards. 

Next Visit

2020-08-07 - Purpose: To check on the sanitation work progress in the lower section towards the construction of the hand washing stations.

Program Success

The majority of the members in the lower section they finished the construction of their pit latrines they are only left to improve on the rest of the other sanitation facilities for example shower areas rubbish pits, dish-racks and the construction of the hand washing stations.

Clean water and the more improvements on their sanitation standards.

To phone call the village through Gerald mufumbiro the general secretary on the sanitation committee to check on how the work of constructing of the hand washing stations in the different homes will have progressed.
