Notes
There are some good latrines constructed, new dish racks, new hand washing facilities, kitchen areas, new rubbish pits all are being used effectively to collect all the rubbish. One can now tell through observations that, the compounds are swept. Some of the people who are constructing new Latrines in the sandy areas called Enock to give them some advice on how to construct strong and good standard facilities. Enock taught them some good designs of constructing with logs and stamping dirt from the ant hills to make proper foundations which is strong then they can start constructing the structure with bricks. They understood the values and benefits of constructing strong facilities. There is a family that they also found when they have constructed a new latrine they called him to check on it and also tell them what they are missing in their home. They encouraged them to smear all the facilities and also emphasized to build proper dish racks and maintain all the facilities on standard. There is a great impact in the community, the sanitation of the villages have increased to 90% latrine coverage unlike before when few homes had proper latrines and poor hygiene. The sub-county health inspector was impressed to see the positive changes in the community and how the residents have embraced the program. He is thankful to kibo group for great work.
