Notes
HARRIET went to Kalitumba village with the Community development officer(CDO) Magada sub-County. She wanted to meet participants of the lower section of the village who did not get stoves before the outbreak of covid 19 when kibo was active in the village. Kibo staff had asked the Chairperson of the Healthy and Safe kitchen program Mrs DIna to mobilize the village. Also Harriet told the Chairperson to mobilize the participants to come with grass to the meeting so that they can learn together how to chop grass so that kibo can teach this section how to practically build stoves. On their way, kibo staff was called the group leader who told her that she mobilized participants for the meeting but currently was not on ground remind them the for the meeting. HARRIET decided to proceed to the village to mobilize the participants by her self other than relying to Dina who was giving excuses. She passed by the sub county and picked the CDO and headed to the village. They were welcomed by the Chairperson LC1 and they requested him to walk with to the village to mobilize and find out why these people did not turn up for the meeting yet they were told about the program. They walked through over 27 homes mobilizing the participants for the next meeting as well as look at their home facilities to see whether they qualify for the healthy and safe kitchen program. Most people had quality kitchen that lacked fuel efficient stove that is mostly cooked on open flames. They told them about the dangers of cooking on the open flames and encouraged them to come to the meeting on Monday 10th August 2020 to learn how to build the fuel efficient stoves that vents out smoke. She also told the type of grass required for building stoves and asked every member to come with a heap of grass to the meeting so that they can learn to get her how to chop it and later learn how to build stoves. Some homes had sub standards bathrooms and Harriet encouraged them to improve on them because building stoves is a dirty work that will require every one to take a shower after building stoves and this should be done in a well build shower area. Also some people whose kitchens were not smeared were encouraged to do so to qualify for the program. The participants were receptive and promised to do so. The CDO also encouraged every home visited to positively respond to all the kibo programs in order to achieve development. The Chairperson LC1 thanked kibo and the CDO for visiting his village, he also promised to work hand in hand with kibo group.
