Notes
Ida, Henry and Diana went to Maliga to teach about preparing chickens for laying and hatching. She opened with a question which turned into a puzzle. What is a chicken? The whole group didn’t know how to explain it but knew how it looks like. The teacher encouraged the group to love the chickens that’s when they will be able to do the following: Helping chickens find laying stations. This will reduce the loss of eggs due to the unknown stations, animals and people eating eggs. After preparing the laying stations, get a pencil or a piece of charcoal that will help you mark the dates on the egg when it was laid. Marking of eggs will help you identify the old egg when sorting out the six bad types. When the first chicken starts the process of incubation, boil one egg (the first layer) according to the dates you marked and give it’s you wait for the second and third to start the incubation process. When the third chicken too starts the process, sort out these eggs ( Old, too pointed, too big, too small, too dirty and the cracked) you may not get any of those eggs mentioned but try hard to cross check because they will not hatch. Remember to love your chickens as pets.
