- Irene went to bupeni to teach about respiratory tract diseases. Unlike other days today Irene was able to talk to the VHT of this village because ever since Irene started working in this village it’s the first time he had been around to attend the lessons. Irene was welcomed to the village to carry out as many lessons as planned and the VHT was so grateful to kibo for the good work they were doing and for creating awareness in their village, he also warned the community members about the COVD 19 pandemic emphasizing the use of face masks and avoiding crowds now that it’s time for campaigns. Irene was then invited to talk with a review of the previous lesson, she asked the members what they think could be the meaning of respiratory tract diseases. It’s flue musa said, running nose the other member said,Mary said it’s cough, and so many others as the interaction went on. On addition to that one can say these are diseases that affect the parts connected to breathing in the simplest way if explained Isaac the VHT said. Irene then made additions according to the discussion explaining the different types,causes,risk factors,signs and symptoms and it’s treatment. After the lesson a mother to the child in the picture brought him saying he has on and off flue and the members said it’s coming from the brain. So she had been given several herbs to treat him but there was no change. Irene talked to the mother and said the re occurring flue could be an allergy, and this could be due to the changes in weather, the environment,or some other thing around him, it could be low immunity,it could be exposure to fellow children around him and therefore should not say it’s from the brain. So Irene advised the mother accordingly and also requested to take the child to hospital for more information and management. The other child has been paralyzed since he was a baby but the parents also think it’s witchcraft but Irene advised them to take him to the well equipped hospital in their area for advice and proper management.
