Notes
Tom made a visit to Mpumiro village to check on facility constructions and improvements on the lower section of the village with emphasis on dish rack construction as well as hand washing improvements. When he arrived in the village, the chairman of the village Mr Aziz joined him at the meeting place and later two committee members joined them. They first shared about the progress of the village in terms of sanitation and hygiene improvements. The chairman said that there has been a great improvement in the village especially the construction of hand washing stands. He said that most of the residents have constructed the hand washing stands and only a few residents are yet to plaster them with cement. On the issue of latrine construction, the chairman said that only about 6 homes are remaining and that he was encouraging them to continue working so that the residents can finish their facilities. After the discussion they moved around to the lower section checking on facility constructions and improvements. In some homes they found new hand washing stands and most of them were constructed to good standard. In most of the homes with the new hand washing stands, Tom and the committee members gave them jericans for putting in water. The residents were very happy and appreciated what kibo has done for them. On the issue of latrine construction, they found two latrines being dug and constructed. Tom encouraged the residents to construct on them with good materials. On the dish rack construction, Tom and the committee members encouraged the residents to construct better dish racks using good poles and to construct them on good standards. Tom also observed that most of the jericans that were put on the hand washing stands had water, soap and were being used.
