Notes
Steven kambale and Chrispus Bulolo visited Butabira village to continue following up the construction of hand washing stands and also encouraged those who were still lagging behind as far as constructing the toilets is concerned meanwhile two weeks back Alex walyomu and Chris carried out the second village house hold survey therefore Alex gave out the targeted names of members who needed to be encouraged to improve their sanitation standards according to the survey report. Among the names were Mr yovani and OModo who did not have latrines and dish racks at their homes according to the survey, they have been so hesitant when it comes to improving sanitation standards at their homes however Steven and Chris were so happy to find new structures of toilets at yovani and OModo , to find out why they had to use this record time to construct toilets barely two weeks after the survey, mr OModo had this to say “ I would like to thank mr Alex from kibo because I did not know the importance of having a toilet at home until recently when Alex came with a TV( iPad) and took my details and my photo too, I knew they would come for me next so I had to use the two weeks to put up this toilet”. The rest of the members on the list have toilets now , the only challenge is now focusing them to other facilities as well. Alex will be going back to Butabira to have a water and sanitation meeting with the community on 25/09/2020.

Report Photos

13821 She is called mrs Yovani whose husband never wanted to construct a toilet until kibo came into action, in the photo she was kneeling like it is a norm, to thank the WASH team for convincing her husband to construct them a latrine.
13830 The boy in the photo above is called Simon, he complained of how his father has refused to build a structure around the latrine pit, so he was demonstrating how they use the current structure. Chris and Steve didn’t find the father around but encouraged the chairman to keep an eye on him to see that he constructs the latrine .
13839 In the photo above, this latrine was damaged by the constant rain the area is currently experiencing, Alex walyomu and the entire WASH team has been encouraging the community members to use strong logs or concrete if they can .
