Notes
Tom made a,visit to Mpumiro village to check on facility constructions and improvements especially latrines, dish racks, and hand washing stands. When he arrived in the village, he found when the chairman had traveled but had delegated two committee members to move around with Tom. They started off from the chairman’s home and moved to the upper section towards Bunaibani village. As they moved, they reached the second home and there they found a newly constructed hand washing stand that Mr Tom one of the committee members had just finished constructing. It was still wet and Tom thanked the committee member Mr Tom for offering his services to help the residents in the construction of the hand washing stand. He had constructed two hand washing stands by that time. In another home of Mr Ndudu, they found the lady who the committee members asked why they have not yet finished their latrine. Ndudu,s wife said that they were harvesting ground nuts and that after the ground nuts have been harvested, they are going to start on the construction of the structure on their latrine. She also said they have already secured bricks for the latrine. As they moved along, they saw that all homes in that section of the village had hand washing stands and each with a jerican full of water. Tom encouraged the residents to continue using their jericans and water to wash their hands as they fight the spread of covid and other diseases. As they moved back from the upper section, they met with an elderly woman who was very thankful for what Kibo has done in her village. Because of kibo, she has a new latrine, dish rack as well as a hand washing stand. Tom also encouraged her to pay for an iron sheet so that she can put on her latrine.
