Suzan went to the village purposely to check on some homes which had not improved on their facilities such as the fuel efficient stoves and the kitchen roofs which were leaking. When she arrived there, she went straight to the group chairperson’s home whom she found preparing lunch for her family with one of her eldest daughter. They warmly welcomed her to the village and Suzan sat outside patiently as she waited for her to finish part of her work at home. Later after, they got up and walked to some homes which needed to improve on their facilities mostly from the lower section of the village. Three women had smeared their stoves although not the kitchens from the outside part which had been washed off by the rains. Some men had collected the grass for roofing their houses which was placed behind the kitchens and when Suzan asked the reason as to why they were taking long to roof their houses especially the kitchens which had the stoves, one man called Musa answered saying that most of them hardly found enough time to do so because they spent longer hours in their gardens since it was rainy season which they didn’t want to miss out. Suzan reminded them of how the rains were going to destroy their new stoves once they left their kitchens unroofed for a longer period. She requested them to try and squeeze time over the weekends or hire other people to do so in case they were too busy. She also requested the women to see that they smeared all their buildings especially the kitchens which really looked bad from the outside, as well as maintaining other facilities such as the dish racks, bathrooms, latrines and the rubbish pits. The members listened to the advice given and thanked Suzan for it, promising to improve on their facilities as soon as possible and for a better healthy living.

2020-10-16 - Purpose: Follow up on the maintenance of the program facilities such as the stove usage and the kitchens.
