Notes
Introduction Manuela went to Nabikenke village to meet with the community leaders and some members also to discuss way forward bout life skills program, since she last met with the community members of this village on the 5/2/2020. It was so reasonable to go and meet the members before the actual teaching could start because there are so many things that have changed in that village due to corona virus outbreak. Objective By the end of the meeting, community members would be able to know about which Topic they are going to start learning. By the end of the meeting, the community members will be able to know which date and the time they will be taking their notes. Overview It was good for Manuela to go to that village after a break of six month due to corona virus outbreak and Manuela’s maternity leave. When Manuela reached the village she found only five people seated waiting for her, they were happy to see her back to teach them, Manuela sat down and greeted them, after some times other members came and the meeting began. Manuela started by appreciating the members for the worm well come, she went on and asked the members about corona virus how they are coping up with it, she also told them to continue washing their hands and also wear their mask on but unfortunately they did not have any. She also told the members the reason for her visit, she told them that, she is not going to teach but discuss on how she will be implementing the program, she also said that they will look back at what they learnt previously. Manuela asked them some questions about what they learnt in February , fortunately only three people could remember, Manuela took them through some of the lessons so that they can remember, towards the end of the discussion they were in position to recall what they learnt six month ago. After that, Manuela asked the members about the date if Monday is still convenient for them to learn on that day but they said no because on that day, they will be having their Savin scheme meeting so they decided to learn Life Skills on every Wednesday. Manuela went on and told the community members that they will be learning about HIV/AIDS she even told them that they should not be afraid of this topic because it’s aimed at educating and creating awareness so that the information can be passed from one person to another more especially the children at home. She-also told them to come with their children along . She went on and told them that in the next visit, she will be teaching them about the history of HIV and the fact and the myths of HIV. Reaction from community members One of the community member requested Manuela to have a one day sensitization with the youth about value of education. Manuela asked her why, she said because many youth are behaving negatively. Conclusion Manuela ended up telling the community members to inform the fellow members to come to the meeting in the next visit, she even told them to keep time and come early so that they can finish early.
