Notes
Harriet and Jeska went to Igerera B to follow up on stove building, smearing and construction of firewood risen stands. This village is at a point of building stoves on their own. They reached in the village and found when the participants had just removed banana stems from the stove that the group built on their own previously. Kibo staff looked at the stove to see whether it was perfectly done. The participants had successfully did it. Kibo staff encouraged them to keep on working on more stoves to ensure everyone in the group gets a stove. The participants told kibo staff that since kibo has confirmed them that they can build quality stoves they feel motivated to build more stoves on their own. They added that for the last one week they have been able to build four stoves on their own. Kibo staff looked at those stoves and they were really good. They also said that they have set a deadline as a group that by the end of October 2020 every member in the group would have got a stove. They also told kibo that as far as smearing is concerned it’s a required for every participant to first smear her kitchen before he or she gets a stove. Kibo staff also decided to inspect some homes in the trading center to see how far they have gone with smearing of their facilities and construction of firewood risen stands. This time they focused on the center of the village. It was very interesting to see some participants whose stoves had developed cracks due to lack of smearing them when they had smeared them and they looked nice however some participants where only concentrating on stoves only leaving the kitchens un smeared. Kibo staff talked to them and some participants said that their kitchen are made out of the breaks and their husband promised to plaster them other than smearing them with cow dung. Kibo staff encouraged these women to talk to their husbands to do it as soon as possible so that their kitchens would look neat and organized. The chairperson of the village Mr.kamya Charles promised to follow up with their husband so that they plaster their kitchens. Also as far as construction of firewood risen stands some participants had started constructing them and stocked their with firewood . They said that they are not worried of firewood when they rain season starts since they have prepared themselves.
