Notes
Harriet went to Igerera B village to follow up on stove building progress because kibo left this village with an assignment to build stoves on their own in order to meet the deadline that the village set. HARRIET was received by the Chairperson of the village Mr. kamya Charles who told her that they have built four stoves from the time kibo last visited their village. He also told her that as the village they have decided to build four stoves per week in order to meet the October deadline that they set themselves. HARRIET looked at the stoves and they all looked good. She encouraged them to make sure that they remove banana stems from them after one week since it is a dry season because if they take longer to remove banana stems the banana stems will dry there or get stuck inside. She also encouraged to continue building stoves on their own since they have now learnt how to build stoves on their own. She also also walked through the homes of the participants together with the chairperson LC1 as she checked on smearing ,construction of firewood stands and stove usage. She focused on the lower section of the village and the observation was most people have smeared their home facilities. Some rose a complaint of heavy rains that washed a way the dirt from the smeared kitchen. HARRIET encouraged the participants that when ever they are building kitchens they should always put enough verandor and roof it to avail rain destroying their kitchens. As as stove usage is concerned every home used was using its stove on daily basis and they told kibo staff that their stoves cooks food better, eliminates smoke in the kitchen and uses less firewood. They also said by constructing the firewood risen stands and stocking it with firewood it will improve their lives further. The homes that were doing well promised to work with other homes which are lagging behind also to improve.Harriet also discussed with the chairperson the debt they can have a general meeting with every one in the group and he proposed 2nd Nov 2019. He however requested HARRIET to go back and check with them before that date to ensure that they have all got stoves, using them and maintained their home facilities.
